First 10 Days of Dhul Hijjah

This season of worship brings many benefits, such as the opportunity to correct ones faults and make up for any shortcomings or anything that one might have missed. Every one of these special occasions involves some kind of worship through which the slaves may draw closer to Allah, and some kind of blessing though which Allah bestows His favor and mercy upon whomsoever He will. The happy person is the one who makes the most of these special months, days and hours and draws nearer to his Lord during these times through acts of worship;

God’s Mercy in Reward & Punishment

According to God, our Creator, the biggest sin in His sight is associating partners with Him, despite the signs He has shown us. Worshipping and obeying Him is the very purpose of our existence. If people insist on following their desires and continue doing evil, then it is only fair that they be punished. But God is most merciful because He has sent messengers, books and signs so that people may be guided to the correct way and submit to Him.

Hajj: A Journey without End

Pilgrims must spare no effort in adhering to these criteria and observances in order to render their Hajj valid and acceptable by Allah. If these criteria were not met while they are performing the rituals, their Hajj will be nothing more than one similar to the pilgrimage the polytheists used to perform in pre-Islamic times and it will bear no fruits whatsoever.

Prophet Muhammad’s Farewell Pilgrimage

Starting from Makkah on the eighth day of Dhul-Hijjah, the Prophet at midday, on his she-camel, went to Mina, where he spent the night before leaving, after sunrise, for ‘Arafat, where he delivered his major speech. The Prophet’s speech that day was the highlight of his pilgrimage, outlining the nature of Islamic society.

Pilgrimage and Its Universal Lessons

The Hajj is essentially a re-enactment of the rituals of the great prophets and teachers of faith. Pilgrims symbolically relive the experience of exile and atonement undergone by Adam and Eve after they were expelled from Heaven, wandered the earth, met again and sought forgiveness in the valley of Makkah. Reflections on Eid

It is a celebration of love and joy for practicing one of the most beloved acts to Allah, fasting! Allah said in the holy Hadith: "All acts of the son of Adam are for himself but fasting, it is for Me and I shall reward by it."

Prophetic Traditions of Eid

It is recommended for the Muslim to busy himself with Takbeer till the Imam comes for prayer, because Takbeer is the recommended act of worship at that time. The Muslim may recite the Quran or perform voluntary prayers on the condition that it is not a prohibited time. However, saying Takbeer is preferable.
